Shire Cottage is a luxury two bedroom house in the heart of Holt; available as self-catered holiday accommodation. Its central position in the town and south-facing views across Shirehall Plain to Byfords make it a unique place to stay in North Norfolk. There is plenty of space for a travel cot, either in the master bedroom or in the twin room, with one of the single beds stored under the other. Both bedrooms are equipped with LED televisions and built-in DVD players. A hairdryer is provided for convenience. The bathroom is upstairs and contains a roll-top bath with hand-held shower, W.C., basin and heated towel rail. A selection of toiletries and bath towels are provided for guests. The new, bespoke kitchen at Shire Cottage was designed by us and handmade in Holt. Granite worktops and the large, 3 bowl butler sink and Franke tap make food preparation (and clearing up) a doddle. The washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board are hidden away under the stairs (there is a washing line in the front garden). A selection of cook books, some of our favourite local recipes and full instructions for all appliances are on-hand. At Shire Cottage you are literally surrounded by the best local, seasonal food North Norfolk has to offer, so cooking can be a real treat if you're not in the mood to eat out. The living room provides ample space for dining and relaxing. The south-facing bay window provides plenty of lovely natural light and the exposed brick and flint feature wall gives the room a cosy contemporary feel, especially when illuminated after dark. A large leather corner sofa is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a good book, or feast your eyes on the Full HD 3D TV. SmartTV technology gives you access to catch-up TV services such as BBC iPlayer, LOVEFiLM and Netflix. 3D specs are provided. There's a DVD player too. WiFi is free and available throughout the cottage. There are handy power-points on the shelf behind the sofa if you need to plug in. There's also a Sony iPhone speaker dock with DAB radio and auxiliary cable to connect all iPods, iPads, MP3 players etc. Outside, the small enclosed front garden is a sheltered south-facing sun trap. Tucked away behind a privet hedge, it's a surprisingly peaceful spot. The resident hedge sparrows are excellent entertainment as you help yourselves to herbs from the pots. A gravel drive provides private off-street parking on the doorstep - the ultimate luxury in the middle of Holt!
