Blackthorn Farm
Richard bought Blackthorn Farm in 2007 after seeing it a few years previously. Trearddur Bay had always had a special place in his heart and purchasing Blackthorn Farm was a dream come true. Richard’s brother, Nigel, came to live on site to be the resident chef and their mother, Audrey, came to join the team with her two dogs, Bella and Tammy. George, Richard’s Old English Sheepdog, completed the family and the six of them set to work to create the Blackthorn Farm we know today.
The Team
To begin with, Richard, Audrey and Nigel did all the work themselves - the cleaning, cooking, serving and booking in! Shortly afterwards, our wonderful Shirley joined the team to become Housekeeper and over the next few years her sisters, Wendy and Julie hopped aboard to take care of the ever increasing ironing (Wendy) and keep the campsite showerblock clean (Julie.) All three sisters keep Blackthorn going while maintaining their individual day jobs.
Michelle (who hasn’t aged a day in the last twelve years) started to help Richard in Reception soon after that and her husband, Mike, became our Site Maintenance Manager. Richard also adopted his second dog, Luna!
