That’s it from us at the Anchorage. We finish trading today after 52 years. We opened back in 1972, by our parents Mike and Marion Rylance, and are proud to have seen the business through to today. Unfortunately, time has caught up with us now and it’s time to retire and pass on the baton to someone else. It’s been an honour and a pleasure. Through all the good times and some hard times too. There are too many memories to capture here, but we’re sure they will remain with us all. Thank you to everyone who turned out this week and shared your stories from the past and celebrated together.
Thank you to the many staff who have been a part of the Anchorage over the years - we remember you all. Thank you to the team who have seen us all the way through to the end, in the kitchen, the bar and the hotel, we couldn’t have done it without you. A special thank you to our longest serving members of staff who have been with us over 15 years; Ceinwen, Karen, Dawn, Lisa, Stacey and Jan. It’s been a pleasure working with you. Thank you for your dedication and hard work!
Thank you to our wives, Jane and Angela, and our families for all their support over the years. It’s been a family business throughout (with many other families involved too).
Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you very much to all of our fantastic customers. Your loyalty, generosity and commitment over the years have been the foundation of it all. It’s been a great pleasure of our lives serving this community and for that we are deeply grateful.
We’re looking forward to enjoying our retirement over the other side of a bar for once. We will remain open for accommodation until a new owner takes over, however it’s goodbye to the bar and restaurant. We look forward to continuing to see you all out and about in the area.
Diolch yn fawr iawn!
Sincere Thanks,
Anthony and David
