I am writing with the sad news that The Mount Somerset will be closing permanently and indefinitely from the 1st April 2025.

A letter from our owners yesterday stated that 'This has not been an easy decision but has become necessary in light of ongoing financial losses and the wider economic climate as I am sure you will understand." And honestly we do.

We realise that a number of our guests have Gift Vouchers to redeem; if it suits you - and we can accommodate you over the next two-weeks we would love to welcome you and say a personal thank you for your support. We understand of course that this will not be convenient for everyone and have an assurance from the owners that all unredeemed Gift Vouchers will be refunded to the original purchaser once we have closed.

We expect an influx of questions over the coming days and will do our best to have the answers - but ask that The Mount is not contacted over this weekend as we have given the staff time off to process the news.

The phones will be manned from Monday and I will do my best to answer emails and comments over the weekend.

It goes without saying that despite The Mount not being a financial success it has been a huge personal success and Olly and I thank you for once again trusting us with your dining experiences.

🌼Yesterday was a real treat. Courtmoor Farm Cottages enjoyed some time out together to indulge in a delicious afternoon tea to celebrate Mother’s Day for Rosalind followed by a little retail therapy 🛍️

Thank you Heron Farm & Coffee Shop for such a delicious spread and for looking after us so well - a really fabulous afternoon. Highly recommended 🌼

Lovely walk along the shore blowing away the cobwebs and enjoying the sunshine! How lucky are we to have the Jurassic coast so close by!

You never know what wildlife you will see on the woodland walks at Courtmoor - this morning there were four deer in the field. Unfortunately the photos don’t show how close they were but it’s always challenging taking a photo while walking the dog!

Yesterday we spent a fun day at The Twixmas Meeting at Taunton Racecourse It was windy with drizzle but that didn’t dampen our spirits and the soft ground did mix up the results and meant the favourites didn’t always win! Less than 20 minutes away and a great day out. There are still several fixtures left - why not fit in a trip to the races while you are away?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the weather….but we can guarantee amazing scenery regardless of the weather! A walk along the seafront definitely blew away the cobwebs, followed by cheesy chips from Prospect Plaice, a look around the shops and then back to Courtmoor Farm Cottages for a cup of tea and some delicious Flapjackery
