To celebrate, I'm trotting out (again!) one of my favourite photos I've taken of Emley Moor mast standing tall over HD8.

At 319 metres it's the tallest freestanding structure in the UK and the 25th tallest tower in the world, and it's been part of our skyline for decades.

You can see it for miles around, and we all know that we're nearly home when we spot it on the horizon.

Proud to live in - and champion - this little corner of Yorkshire. Hope you're all celebrating today!

Join us on Sunday 30th August from midday for Hinchliffe's Family Fun Day - a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend celebration for all ages.

We'll have a BBQ, live DJ, outside bar, bouncy castle, ice creams, circus skills with Crafty Devilz, plenty of seating under the marquee and a great atmosphere throughout the day.
