When you arrive on site and the venue is still being built, plans have changed, and it's clear that your system design is not going to work, it's time to improvise. Out with delays and a bass array, in with mini/quasi in-the-round configuration, and an endfire sub array outside the 'marquee'.
Our favourite moment came when we received a very lovely voice note from the client after the event, transposed and edited here:
‘You have got no idea what sound came out from the speakers, the people were so happy! ... They came to me yesterday, after the event [and said] the sound was so good, we never had such a good sound it was amazing! ... The speakers were so good, [you've] got no idea how happy they were, and I can also tell you the same thing, and I've made many, many events. It was so good set up - the speakers… THE SUBS! The subs just covered… it's unbelievable, it's unbelievable [the] great job you guys have done, you've got no idea I really, really can't thank you enough for a wonderful job! … Thanks so much, and yes definitely, definitely we will work a lot together, and I'm waiting for more bigger events, and yes you will definitely be part thanks so, so much!’
Even under the most challenging circumstances a happy client is always achievable when you have the right tools.
