A rare afternoon where I actually get to enjoy what our guests do. 🌿☀️

With the house blocked for electrical works, I sat outside today in the sunshine — birds singing, nature all around, space to breathe… and, of course, my chickens following me everywhere! 🐔😂

Because the house is normally enjoyed by our guests, I rarely get to experience it like this myself.

It reminded me just how special it is to have somewhere you can genuinely switch off, relax and reset.

A simple trench for our future solar plans… and we uncover a 100-year-old farm water system beneath the drive! 😳 Small job just got BIG. #

NO… THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING 😳

A simple trench for new power, ready for the next stage of our solar and sustainability plans.

Dig. Lay cable. Fill it back in. Easy.

Until we uncovered a huge, roughly 100-year-old stone water chamber beneath the drive — complete with old clay pipes, most likely once supplying water to the farm and cattle.

So the small job has become a VERY big job… and half the drive is coming up! 😳

🍅 AS A GUEST, WHAT WOULD YOU LOVE TO FIND FRESHLY PICKED FOR YOU?

My first year growing tomatoes and my very first two picked!

I’m an absolute beginner, so I’m probably far too excited about these — and yes, that’s one of our rather large hen eggs beside them for scale!

They weren’t quite ready for our last guests, but there are lots more coming.

I’m learning as I go, with the aim of growing more and more here at The Woodlands House for our guests to enjoy freshly picked during their stay.
