The Shrubbery Hotel

It was such a shame to see the Carnival procession cancelled, especially after all the hard work, planning and dedication that goes into making it such a special event for Ilminster. A huge well done to everyone involved in organising the Carnival and everyone who was taking part — we really hope to see it back in Ilminster, bigger and better, next year!

Despite the disappointment, it was fantastic to see so many people still come out and make the most of the evening. A huge thank you to our amazing local community for supporting the hotel and the after party last night and creating such a brilliant atmosphere. 🥳🍻

Events like this really show what a wonderful community we have. Your support means so much to local businesses and everyone involved in putting on these fantastic events.

Well done to everyone involved, and thank you to everyone who came out and supported the evening. ❤️

Here’s hoping we’ll all be back together in Ilminster next year, with the Carnival procession in full swing! 🎶✨

We appreciate the feedback we have received following Saturday’s firework display and understand the concerns raised by members of our local community.

When the event was arranged, we raised our concerns of noise to local residents we were advised by the organiser that it would be a low-noise fireworks display. Based on that information, we expected the display to be significantly quieter than a traditional fireworks display.

We recognise that the display was considerably louder than anticipated, and we sincerely apologise to anyone who was disturbed, particularly local residents, pet owners and those with noise sensitivities.

The fireworks display was organised and delivered by an independent, fully insured professional fireworks contractor. The Shrubbery Hotel’s involvement was limited to providing the venue and assisting with site logistics and parking.

We will no longer allow any fireworks displays.

We thank everyone who has taken the time to contact us and share their concerns in a respectful manner.

Please see attached a statement from the 36 page risk assessment.

🎆 A quick notice for our neighbours 🎆

Hello everyone,

Just a quick heads-up that we have a profession company hosting a private fireworks display for one of our wedding celebrations at The Shrubbery Hotel on Saturday 18th July 2026.

The display is expected to start at around 10:00pm and will last for approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Although the fireworks are quiet, during this time, there may still be some loud bangs.

We understand that fireworks can affect some people and pets, so we wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and really appreciate your understanding as we help our happy couple celebrate such a special occasion.

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you’ll join us in wishing the newlyweds a wonderful day! ❤️
