Ancestral home of Duke of Argyll's and was requisitioned by the Admiralty during the war for Naval Training. Rudha-Na-Craige House is a beautiful Victorian house in the town of Inveraray on the west coast of Scotland overlooking the picturesque Loch Fyne with its rolling hills backdrop. Built in 1863 by the Duke of Argyll, the house was requisitioned by the Admiralty during the war years when the Loch shores were used for naval training. In 2006, it was completely restored to its former glory and modernised to provide what can only be described as 'Luxury Accommodation'. The house is situated next to the town's nine hole golf course which is open to all visitors. The town of Inveraray offers many attractions for those on vacation and is an excellent base for touring in Argyll & Bute and beyond. Inveraray was one of the first planned towns in Scotland. Our six bedrooms are individually designed with fabrics, furnishings and ornaments specially chosen to reflect the character of the rooms. All have en-suite bathrooms and splendid views across the loch and garden. Only the single room does not have a loch view but compensates with a panoramic garden view.

6 en-suite guest rooms.

* Cairngorm Suite - the jewel in our crown with a spacious living area with stunning twin aspect loch views. Bath and Shower.
* Strathmore Suite - stunning loch views. Shower
* Aray Suite - top floor with stunning triple aspect loch views. Spacious bathroom with two hand basins, bath and shower.
* Shira - top floor with a fantastic high level view of the loch. Shower.

Hi there here’s an update for October.

You will able to come in Monday to Thursday between 10 and 3.30

There will be a donation box at the Visitor Centre and we are asking you to leave a donation. The box will be emptied every day at closing time.

The houses will be open so you are still able to have a wander and see what’s inside.

I really hope you come down especially during the school holidays.

Introduction
Perched on the banks of Loch Fyne, Rudha-na-Craige is a beautifully restored Victorian guest house with a rich and fascinating history. Built in 1863 by the Duke of Argyll and once requisitioned by the Admiralty during wartime naval training, the property today offers guests a unique blend of heritage, luxury, and breathtaking scenery.

With six individually designed bedrooms overlooking either Loch Fyne or the surrounding hills, Rudha-na-Craige provides a memorable escape in the heart of Inveraray. As more visitors began arriving in electric vehicles, the team recognised the growing importance of reliable on-site charging — particularly in a rural area where public infrastructure can be limited.

The Challenge
Like many rural hospitality venues, Rudha-na-Craige was seeing increasing demand from guests travelling in electric vehicles.

Key considerations included:

Providing reliable charging for overnight guests
Supporting EV drivers travelling through rural Argyll
Reducing reliance on local public chargers, which had become increasingly unreliable
Enhancing the guest experience without compromising the character of the property
The owners wanted a charging solution that would feel like a natural extension of the warm, welcoming hospitality already offered at Rudha-na-Craige.

We have these lovely visitors to our back garden, maybe 5 or 6 times a week... Sometimes very late in the evening or early morning... First time I've captured them both having fun like this.... ❤️

If you stay with us, if you stay in a garden room you may see our friends here, or Pine Martens... Or 🐈 🐈

Welcome back to this lovely Roe Deer for the first time this year to our garden at Rudha-na-Craige.

We had a pair of deer visit us almost every morning last year until about November.... Hope his mate joins him soon... And in daylight.

Went for a short walk into town to collect supplies, which turned into a long walk along the beach.... The tide was all the way out so a piece of land, a Spit, extends into Loch Fyne by about 100m.

Walking over the spit, it's full of empty shells from the birds feasting on our local tasty seafood 🤤..... But you also get to see Inveraray from an angle you can't get from the coast.

A crisp evening, with a lovely sunset and even though quite warm, still a little snow on the hills in the distance.

Just breathtaking 🙏

We've been busy over the winter, upgrading and adding new lights to the front and rear of our lovely home.... Upgraded our internet to 200mb Starlink and a new WiFi mesh network that's (so far) working really well.... Plus additional EV chargers!

That aside, what a wonderful clear night we have here in

Looking forward to a busy season, welcoming many of our regulars back and meeting new guests...

This could be fun, but just missed this.... Will be keeping an eye open for the next event!
