A tribute to our dad,
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Dad, who died yesterday at the age of 88.
Almost 50 years ago, Mum and Dad left their home in the Netherlands to begin a new life here. Together, through hard work, determination and countless hours of dedication, they built this chalet park from the ground up. What began as a dream became not only a family business, but a place that has welcomed generations of guests and created lifelong friendships.
For Dad, this was never just a business—it was his vocation. He took enormous pride in looking after the park and, more importantly, the people who stayed here. He loved chatting with guests, catching up with familiar faces, and making everyone feel welcome. Many of our regular visitors became friends, and he even arranged his own holidays so they would never clash with their visits. Being here for them was simply what he wanted.
Many of you will also remember him on Wednesday evenings, playing his accordion in the bar. Those evenings brought him immense joy, and he loved nothing more than seeing people enjoying themselves with music, laughter and good company.
When he wasn’t busy around the park, he enjoyed his other passion—a wee bit of farming, which kept him just as happy and just as busy.
Dad’s legacy is not only the park that he and Mum built together, but the warmth, kindness and sense of community that they created here. It is because of their vision, and Dad’s unwavering dedication, that so many families have made happy memories here over the years.
As a family, we are incredibly proud of everything he achieved and deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey with him. We know many of you will remember him fondly, and we hope that every time you return, you’ll think of the man who loved this place, loved its people, and gave so much of himself to it.

Dad, you built far more than a holiday park. You built a place where people felt at home, and that will always be your greatest legacy.
