The Highlands don't give up their secrets to those who stay on the main road. Get out there.

Just a short stroll from the hotel sits the reason we exist at all.

The Whitebridge was built in 1732 under General Wade, as part of a scheme to construct military roads through the Highlands, an attempt to suppress further Jacobite uprisings.

The hotel itself stands on the site of a Kingshouse — an inn built to house the workers who constructed it. So in a way, we've been feeding and watering weary travellers on this spot for nearly 300 years.

Some things never change. 🥃

Just down the road from us and absolutely worth the trip are the Falls of Foyers.

The 9th highest waterfall in the UK, dropping a casual 165 feet into a gorge before feeding into Loch Ness. It moved Robert Burns to describe it as a "horrid caldron dim-seen through rising mists." We'd describe it as absolutely stunning, but Burns had a better way with words.
