We ended the week with eight salmon landed and at least the same again lost.
Hugo Pearson-Wood got the party off the mark with a 9lber from Gardners before breakfast on Tuesday morning.
The river rose slowly on Wednesday to about 0" Archie Godman-Dorington caught a 8lber from Kennel run with just minus 3 on the gauge followed by a 12lber from the neck of the Morail after changing to a fast sink tip. Hamish Godman-Dorington landed an 8lber from Gardners also after changing to a fast sink tip after the pool had been fished several times before.
On Thursday the river was running at 3 inches. Jamie Ellis caught a 10 lber from the Morail at 5.15 in the morning followed by both Archie and Hamish G-D with fish of 8 and 10lb each before breakfast. After that several fish were lost but just before dinner Tom Denman caught 9lb salmon from Keepers
Despite rain in the forecast, nothing materialized, and although a couple more were lost, nothing else was landed.

We have had some activity in the last couple of days after 3 weeks of low water.
Late in the day on the back of a 3 inch rise to minus 4" we landed 3 salmon. One from the neck of the Morail one from Kennel run!! And one from Gardners. Gardners had been fished several times when Hamish Godman-Dorrington decided to try a 5ft super fast sink tip. It didn't take long for a fish to take.
It just shows how important it is to have a few tips in your pocket.
This morning, before breakfast, with 0" on the gauge, we've caught 3 salmon and lost a couple.

We had some good water at the beginning of last week with the river rising to 2ft.3 by 8pm on Monday night. With minus 3" ok on the gauge Andrew Elder caught a 7lb salmon from Gardners on Monday morning and Bill Gilmore caught another at 7lb just before lunch.
On Tuesday Bill Gilmore the river had dropped back to 3 inches and Bill Gilmore caught a 11lb salmon from the Morail. Late in the day Alasdair Mackie caught a 10lber in Gruinards run.
Two other fish were lost.

It's been a strange spring. There have been over 50 salmon caught, possibly as many as 60 off the river, but the majority have been below the Dounie gorge. On the other hand Finlay briefly hooked a salmon in Pigeon rock before the end of March which shows fish went through Braelangwell.

A quiet week at Braelangwell last week. The fish don't seem in a hurry to come to us. There were 6 salmon landed on Cornhill and one that I know of from Invercarron.
Yesterday, there were three salmon landed on Cornhill and one opposite us in the Morail for Gruinards caught by Bumble from our party, which have both banks.
Well done to those who caught fish, as it was so windy the gusts frequently pushed you off balance.

We had people fishing the bottom beat, but after the water temperature reached 45.97F late afternoon yesterday, I gave Pigeon Rock a go. Going on to try the rest of the top beat this afternoon.
