Some photos of today’s cycle from the Black Isle to the beautiful and tranquil location of Orrin dam. A beautiful Spring Day with the remnants of winter snow on Ben Wyvis and the hills to the West. This is truly a cycle ride for all seasons. In Spring the golden coloured gorse and broom is starting to bloom. In summer the hills are covered in purple heather and in Autumn the forested landscapes are to behold. We are happy to share favourite cycle routes with our guests and hope you enjoy today’s photos. ⛰️ 🌳 ☀️ 🚲

Today , 25th January, marks the celebration of the birth date Scotland’s most famous poet Robert Burns. An important date in the Scottish calendar when Burns suppers take place all over Scotland to celebrate his poems and songs whilst enjoying haggis and of course a few drams. Burns, born 267 years ago , was both a nationalist and internationalist. He is credited with the renaissance of Scottish language and culture post the battle of Culloden in an era when speaking Gaelic, Scots, the wearing of the kilt and playing bagpipes was outlawed. Enjoy the images and this beautiful poem where his love of the Highlands is perfectly encapsulated.

So looking forward to visiting the Castle. Looks like the four year wait was worthwhile. Particularly keen to view the section dedicated to one of my favourite groups Runrig , a band founded on Skye which went on to gain great popularity in Europe and beyond with many songs in the Gaelic language. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🎶 🏰
