I just wanted to say a massive thank you to our customers over the years and all the special people involved in the labour of love which was the build of the Highland Lassie. Both myself and Gaby were very proud of what we have created. However the time has come for someone else to enjoy her, looking forward to seeing what adventures are in store for her.
If you are interested in the sale of Highland Lassie have a look over the particulars below and please contact [email protected] directly for any sales enquries.
This truly is a special place to wake up. 🌅Remember I’m back open for a little while - serving hot drinks and homemade baking, something to fuel your weekend walk along the canal perhaps?

This piece of oak art is now well on her way to being the unique ship to cruise the West Coast of Scotland. But before that she is to be enjoyed as ‘BED ON BOARD’. Large luxurious cabins with en-suite shower rooms, quality bed dressed with soft Egyptian cotton sheets to ensure you sleep the perfect sleep, wake up relaxed and ready to start an exciting day in the extraordinary beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Finish the day with a visit to Oakwood Restaurant at Dochgarroch just 800 metres from HIGHLAND LASSIE to enjoy true Scottish Fayre before returning for … perhaps a nightcap of fine Scotch Malt Whisky whilst relaxing in the saloon placed comfortably in one of the big soft leather chairs.
How did this all come about, this is her story...……………...
Built in Bangor shipyard 1980, for Ronald Thompson, her given name was FRAGRANT CLOUD, she fished in Irish waters we understand, however we have not been able to find out a lot about her expeditions during the Irish days.
She was sold to Robert McLean (we think) in 1994 and started the Scottish leg of her story. As Fragrant Cloud she fished with him until 1995 when she was sold to George Geddes whereby she was re-named SCOTIA. Scotia worked hard, fished out of Rockall never coming in for a storm... but the time came; she was to be decommissioned in 2004 and should have gone the way of all decommissioned fishing boats - to the ship wreckers to have her back broken.
This is the beginning of her incredible story. George not wanting to see her untimely death
arranged her transfer through The Marine Directorate Sea Fisheries (Management) Division to his friend Jim McCleod for a £1 on the written understanding that she would not fish again, anywhere in the world. Jim loved his newly acquired fishing boat and went about making her his home from home - he named her SUNSHINE.
