A must-stop if you go to Bigbury Beach. Just check the tides, and the pub opening times, before you go.

Friday and Saturday: 10am - 10pm

🍂 Autumn in Devon – the perfect time for a quiet escape 🍂

Yes, the clocks are about to go back and the evenings are drawing in, but there’s still so much to love about this time of year here in South Devon. The countryside is glowing with autumn colour — perfect for peaceful walks through Haldon Forest, Longtimber Woods, or even closer to home, Ermington Woods.

The beaches, and pubs, are blissfully quiet too. Or head up to Dartmoor, where the heather and bracken are turning the moorland into a patchwork of golds and purples.

And there are still plenty of places to visit - Totnes Castle, Dartmoor Zoo, Pennywell Farm, the South Devon Railway - even at this time of year.

Walk back up the other side of the valley and end your walk in 13th century The Journeys End - it has FOUR open fires at this time of year. Perfect...

🔊 Calling all walkers!

🥾 New long distance walking route across South Devon, split into smaller manageable sections, launching this Autumn.

📍 The Haven in Ugborough would be the perfect base for most of the sections and we have good availability from mid-September onwards.

(We are going to try a couple of the sections ourselves next month. Will report back.)

Oops… we got our dates wrong! 🙈 We thought the August Bank Holiday was the last weekend of the month — but of course, it’s Monday 24th August this year.
