NEWS FLASH:
This Saturday, 22nd January, we have invited TOBY GRAHAM to entertain you. The evening starts at 3pm, when our bar opens.
Food will be served between 4pm and 8.30pm and the entertainment begins at 9.30pm. As always we rely on your support to continue being able to offer our FREE entertainment.
Another date for your social calendar:
Saturday 5th February, SHARON FRANKLIN entertains.

As we start a new week, here are some dates for you to make a note of.
Our regular end of the month Karaoke returns on Friday 28th January. We are in need of some new talent, so if you think you have what it takes, come and join us. We like to think that this is the Ivybridge version of 'X Factor' and can promise that there are no red buzzers, just the occasional rotten tomato when necessary!
On Wednesday 2nd February we are hosting our Pub Quiz. The evening starts at 8pm and as usual you can expect the unexpected from the main man. You are welcome to book your table in advance by calling 01752 892280.
From 4th February we are re-opening at lunchtimes, on every Friday and Saturday. We will be serving food between Midday and 2pm and then 5pm to 8.30pm, with our bar serving drinks from Midday to close. Fingers crossed that this is the beginning of life slowly returning to some form of normality.
Our next Karaoke evening is on 12th February, same format as always. Do you have a secret desire to shine in the spotlight? Do you have dreams of stardom? We will soon let you know if we think you have what it takes, in the nicest possible way of course.
The last date for this post is our Comedy Club event, on Wednesday 16th February. We have a great line up of comedians to ensure you have an evening to remember. This is a ticket only evening, £25 per head, in advance please. Supper will be provided and we do request that you bring your sense of humour with you, as we are not able to monitor the content of the acts.
So that is enough for you to go on with. for the moment. As always we are on the end of a phone if you have any questions. Our door is open for food, alcohol and a friendly chat.

As always January is a quieter month for us, with people being encouraged to partake in 'Dry January' and this year 'Veganuary' also, it makes it harder for places like ours.
We are still doing our best to offer you a warm welcome, with food and drink available (we do sell non alcoholic beverages!) 7 days a week and we rely on you to make it worth our while in opening.
A couple of dates for your diary:
Friday 28th January is our regular Karaoke slot and into next month, Wednesday 2nd February we are hosting a Pub Quiz, 8pm start.
From Friday 4th February we are returning to lunchtime opening, on Fridays and Saturdays only, for the moment. The hours will be between Midday and 2.00pm for food, with the bar open right through from Midday to close and food starting again at 5pm.
Watch this space for further information regarding entertainment and events we are planning for the coming months.

Don't forget that we have KARAOKE tomorrow night. The evening starts with bar drinks from 3pm, food between 4pm and 8.30pm and KARAOKE from 9.30pm. Come along and join in the fun, show us your hidden talent or just enjoy the limelight for 5 minutes. We will be open until about midnight I expect, so get your glad rags on.

If you have been waiting, as we have, to make sure New Years Eve celebrations are allowed to go ahead, well wait no more. We are more than pleased to hear that no restrictions are being placed on us and that this year we can once again showcase our Gala dinner. As we have all spent so long wearing surgical face masks, it seemed an ideal opportunity to advertise this evening as a Masquerade Ball, but with sequins and glitter added to the mixture.
Please note that this event is a TICKET ONLY evening, with doors opening at 7pm. We have tickets still available at £49.50 per head. which includes a 4 course meal and entertainment from Andy Hart.
If you fancy spoiling your better half why not stay the night. We have a couple of rooms still available and at £165 for 2 people to include NYE tickets, room and brunch, it is an offer too good to miss. Call 01752 892280 between 3pm and 9pm to book. Menus are needed asap please, to enable us to guarantee your choices are catered for.

Salmon Teriyaki skewers with mixed leaves
Duck a l'orange Pate with french toast and redcurrant jelly
King Prawns flamed in brandy with lemon mayo
Portobello Mushroom stuffed with Halumi and red onion marmalade.

MAINS:
Beef Wellington, fillet steak wrapped with Parma ham and a rich duxelle in a puff pastry parcel with a Madeira jus
Swordfish steak with Coconut and Rum sauce topped with toasted Pecans
Glazed Pork Tenderloin Medallions with Caramelised Apples in a rich cider jus
Plantasia: Spiced Winter Vegetables, Cherry Tomatoes and Peppers, topped with Mozzarella baked in a pastry case with a Pesto sauce and a Courgette Tagliatelle.

DESSERTS:
Pot au Chocolate laced with Dark Rum
Strawberry Prosecco Truffle
Toffee and Honeycombe Cheesecake
West country cheeseboard.

As this is likely to be the last post before Christmas, please make a note of what is happening at The Sportsmans Inn, so you do not miss out on anything.
This Thursday 23rd, we are holding our Grand Christmas Draw and Quiz. The evening will start about 8pm and with Bill as the host you can expect an evening of anything. He may be dressed as Santa, he may even be Merry and Jolly, either way he will do his best to make sure you have a great time.
Please book a table if you are thinking about joining us as the evening is filling up fast.
Our bar is opening at 1pm on Christmas Eve 24th, with food from 4pm and the entertainment with Donna Walker starting at 9.30pm. If you are thinking about dining, please book a table in advance, as we have a restricted number of tables left.
We are then closed for 25th and 26th, with evening service resuming on 27th from 3pm.
New Years Eve is a ticket only event, with tickets on sale now, which must be purchased in advance. Please see a member of staff for any information.
Bill and the staff would like to thank you for your continued support throughout these difficult times. Without you we would not be able to continue providing free entertainment, great food and good old fashioned hospitality.

The days are flying by and we are heading towards another weekend.
This Friday we have invited Terry Gray to entertain you, a new face at The Sportsmans Inn. She comes with great reviews and I know you will make her feel very welcome.
On Saturday, Nick Tilley will be here, one of our regulars, who always guarantees a great evening.
Please be reminded that some of our evenings are filling up fast and to guarantee yourself a table, we advise you to book in advance.
We are still selling tickets for our Grand Christmas Draw which is being held next Thursday, 23rd. Tables for this evening are nearly all gone, so please if you are thinking of joining us, give us a call, 01752 892280. Bill will be our Quiz compare for the night and will be full of festive spirit, generally of the liquid kind.
Christmas Eve entertainment is Donna Walker and it is looking like it will be another busy evening. We will be closed on 25th and 26th to allow staff to recharge themselves, ready for the final push towards New Years Eve.
More information about 31st to follow closer to the time, so you do not forget to book, as this is a ticket only event.
Please remember that it is Christmas for our staff aswell, so be patient if we are busy, as some of us are not as young as we used to be.
In the meantime, remember the true meaning of Christmas, which gets easily lost in these strange times. Keep safe and be happy.

With December now fully established and as we head towards the Big day, we at The Sportsmans Inn are working hard to help you get into the Festive spirit.
The lights have been up for a couple of weeks, the CD player is playing Christmas songs, when Bill allows and the staff are Merry and Bright !!! Our Christmas party menu is available, ( order in advance please) and our Free entertainment is on every weekend for the rest of December.
This Friday we have Toby Grahame entertaining you and on Saturday, your are the stars with our famous Karaoke evening.
Raffle tickets for our Grand Christmas Draw, 23rd December, are on sale. If you don't get asked to buy any, please speak to a member of staff. I do feel the need to warn you, that if Jan is working, you will not get away without buying any !! 'Mrs Hard Sell' is on form again this year.
The tables for our Christmas Quiz and Grand draw are filling up fast, so please book in advance. A great evening is guaranteed, with Bill in charge of the microphone, anything can happen and probably will.
That seems enough information for a Monday morning, so keep an eye on our FB posts, then you won't miss out on anything.

We have entertainment every Friday and Saturday for the next 2 weeks and also on Christmas Eve. Start getting into the Festive spirit with a little help from The Sportsmans Inn.
