The Nook at Moorhaven

Self contained apartment on the doorstep of Dartmoor owned by Clare & Alan Reason.

Moorhaven is a development of around 100 residences created from the former Blackadon Asylum, later to be known as Plymouth Mental Hospital. Set in 65 acres of grounds and woodland, The Nook is part of the main Victorian hospital complex, an imposing stone and brick structure built in the 1880s. The last patients left the hospital in 1993 and development into it's current form began in 1998. Small

but perfectly formed, this cosy retreat is convienient for both moor and coast. Consisting of an open-plan living area including a small kitchenette, downstairs shower room and upper mezzanine bedroom. Perfect to use as a base for walking, climbing, golf (on the Wrangaton Golf course next door), lounging on the beach or visiting local attractions in Dartmoor, Plymouth, Totnes or the English Riviera.

We've been staycationing! We might not have picked the best day, weather wise to visit Tinside Lido this week, but, regardless of the cloudy skies, the water really was fantastic. The lido is a fantastic Art Deco style saltwater pool on Plymouth Hoe. In the distance you can see Drake's Island, recently opened for public tours for the first time after 30 years of closure. Standing tall above it all is Smeaton's Tower: Plymouth's iconic lighthouse. We ended our afternoon with a walk down to the Barbican to see the historic Mayflower Steps (not pictured.) @ Tinside Lido
