Laurel gives off hydrocyanic fumes every time it is cut. So transporting cuttings from trimming your hedge in an enclosed space like a car with ac on may lead to unconsciousness and you crashing your car.

One of our visitors said he ended up in the hospital after collapsing with breathing difficulties while chipping laurel.

NOT all men can smell almonds, which can warn you of the presence of cyanide gas.

We are lucky to have returning this year with The Scarlet Pimpernel, after last year's fabulous performance of Around the World in 80 Days.

We are looking forward to the show at 7.30 on Sunday 5th July. Bring your own picnic and chairs and enjoy an evening of fun.

(Their acting is a lot better than my voice over!)

I was once told at a foraging talk that if it was hairy, it wasn't scary. They were wrong!

Rough Chervil is very hairy, more than cow parsley. The warning of the spotted stems does not appear until later in the plant life, so it is not a reliable feature to use as identification.

Other Umbellifers to familiarise yourself with if you are planning to eat any of this family are fool's parsley and cowbane and all the waterdrop worts.

Though rough chervil is unlikely to kill you, you might still end up in A&E.
