There’s always something to do in the Borders. On a sunny spring day you could do worse than climbing up to Fatlips Castle (yes…really). We made the climb this morning and the view was absolutely breath taking. Find out more here

Good morning from the beautiful Scottish Borders. As the cottages open again we thought you might need a reminder of the amazing landscape that surrounds us. The storms seem to have moved on and we’re left with fantastic views and peace and quiet.

Apparently the south of the country has had snow... so much for the frozen North as we’ve had an amazing day. We’re really looking forward to opening again at the start of next month and we’re excited to have a new cottage to add to our existing three. Not quite ready yet but won’t be long, and it’s going to be lovely!

Delighted to see the week in Wheel we donated to this very worthy cause has raised so much money. Small charities like these have been hit hard by Covid and Carolyne who runs it does an amazing job. We were very pleased to be able to help and look forward to meeting the lucky winner in the not too distant future.

Surrounded by fabulous scenery, lockdown is easier for us than for a lot of people. The mist hanging over the Tweed yesterday morning was wonderful and other-worldly and all within fifteen minutes of our cottages

So we’re back in tier 4 restrictions and the cottages are taking a well earned break. It’s a strange time but we really know how lucky we are to be able to enjoy the magnificent scenery that surrounds us. Here’s to a better start to 2021 so we can share it all with you.

It’s been such a horrid year that we decided to do something to help. A charity that does so much good and works so hard to care for gorgeous dogs that need new homes seemed the obvious choice. Have a look at their post and have a go. There’s a week in Wheel House to win. To spread some Christmas cheer, please share with as many people as you can and let’s help this fantastic charity make some money.

How would you like a weeks stay in a beautiful cottage with your dogs in Kelso on the borders?

The lovely owners of the cottages have gifted LRRSS a weeks stay in The Wheel House. Provisionally for the week beginning 14th February, however if Covid makes life difficult for that date then the owners will happily rearrange a date with you.
https://www.crabtreeandcrabtree.com/properties/the-wheel-house/

This week in the cottage is worth £400 and if you’d like to win it, it’s £3 per entry. You can pay by PayPal [email protected] or email me for bank details. [email protected]
Please put the narrative “ cottage “ on your payment.

If you then email me you will be allocated a number. I will let this run for a good while to raise as much funds as possible.

The winner will be chosen by one of these four dogs Patty, Hannah, Emma, all LRRSS girls and Buddy the Cavalier. Numbered Tennis balls will be put in a container and whichever dog takes a tennis ball out first will be the winning number. I stole the tennis balls idea from ... https://www.facebook.com/arrandogbakery/

It’s a beautiful cottage with all mod cons and we are so grateful to the owners for their generosity to help us raise funds. Carolyne
