🐝🌼 Happy World Bee Day from Wild Boar Estate 🌼🐝

Hidden amongst our private woodland, our thriving beehives are hard at work helping nature flourish across our 72-acre estate. From pollinating wildflowers and woodland glades to producing delicious Cumbrian honey for our guests to enjoy, these tiny workers play a huge role in the life of the estate.

At the height of summer, each hive can hold up to 60,000 bees, all contributing to the wellbeing of the colony and the surrounding countryside. 🍯✨

Our team has been learning the art of beekeeping alongside experienced apiarist Jackie Kerr, caring for the hives through every season and supporting vital pollinators in the heart of the Lake District.

And the sweetest part? Our estate honey is now served at breakfast, available for guests to take home, and even features in our small-batch mead from our microbrewery. 🍺🍯

Today, we’re celebrating the bees that keep our countryside buzzing. 💛

Every spring, the woodland floor at Wild Boar Estate comes alive with the stunning colour of bluebells, and this year is no exception 🥰

It's one of those things that really does have to be seen to be believed. If you're lucky, you might even spot a rare white bluebell, an albino variety that occasionally turns up among the blue.

You don't need to be staying with us to come and enjoy them. Grab some lunch or dinner in the Grill & Smokehouse and take a walk in the woods afterwards, or go all in and order one of our Alternative Afternoon Tea picnic baskets to take out into the grounds.

Of course, if you do fancy making a proper break of it, our dinner, bed and breakfast packages start from £169 per night, with a £29 per adult dinner allowance.

The bluebells won't be here forever though, so if you've been thinking about a spring trip to the Lakes, now is a pretty good time.
