Silent Sentinels of Ramsgate Harbour

The soldier silhouettes that still stand around Ramsgate Harbour continue to capture the attention of visitors long after the Operation Ramsgate commemorations in May. Installed to mark the anniversary of Operation Dynamo and the vital role played by the Ramsgate Little Ships during the Dunkirk evacuation, they provide a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those involved.

Set against the harbour’s boats, water and ever-changing skies, the figures stand quietly on watch, linking Ramsgate’s busy present with its proud wartime past. They invite passers-by to pause, reflect and remember one of the town’s finest moments in history.
