CATBELLS BIG LAKE DISTRICT VIEWS WITHOUT AN ALL DAY HIKE 🥾⛰️

It might only reach 451m, but don’t underestimate it. You get rocky paths, a few short hands on scrambles and a proper ridgeline, followed by some absolutely cracking views across Derwentwater and the surrounding fells. The National Trust describes Catbells as a “proper little mountain”, which sums it up rather nicely.

⏱️ Allow around 2–2½ hours

⛰️ Elevation gain: approx. 413m

💪 Difficulty: Moderate

🪨 Terrain: Rocky paths, short scrambles and grassy descents

🐕 Dogs: Suitable for capable dogs used to rocky fell terrain, keep them under close control around livestock.
