Thursday 27th August 2026 - 5-8.30pm 🌞

Join Ruby from Hollows Farm and Jade from the National Trust on a guided walk through Borrowdales temperate rainforest National Nature Reserve, summiting Castle Crag.

Learn all about the ancient Atlantic Oakwoods and Hollows Farm, exploring the woodland, local fells and surrounding farmland.

Finish the walk with a delicious Hollows Farm grass fed beef chilli and locally produced drinks (Vegetarian, Vegan and GF alternatives available on request) 🍽️

£20 per person including guided walk, meal and drink.

Baling 2026 over and out 🙌🏻

We don’t cut most of our hay fields until after the 05th July, this is to comply with environmental schemes on the farm which protect ground nesting birds so they have time to rear their chicks before we cut the grass. The scheme also allows some of our native grasses and other plants time to mature and go to seed before being used as crop for our animals 🌱

The weather has come at a perfect time this year and we’ve made our hay and silage this week, which will feed our sheep and cattle over the winter months 🐑

It’s great to be a productive working hill farm whilst also considering our environmental impact and encouraging as much biodiversity as possible in our area 💚

It’s been a seriously hot one this week 🥵

We’ve never felt so lucky to live near so many Lakes!

This hot weather has given us the opportunity to make some amazing hay and silage that we’ll use to feed the animals with this winter 🐑

It’s also given campers some amazing weather and a good excuse to have a dip in the rivers and lakes 🏊🏻

We’ve been heading out early morning and late evenings with the team to cool off and enjoy where we live 🐾

Everything is so beautiful and green in the Borrowdale Valley now we’re heading into summer….. although the recent temperatures haven’t felt like summer 🥶

The forecast is looking brighter and warmer for the next few days, we have availability on our campsite, get those last minute plans booked in!
