Lake Farm Caravan – A Truly Magical Stay in the Lake District

We absolutely loved our stay at Lake Farm Caravan at Bassenthwaite. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. It genuinely felt like a home away from home — friendly, peaceful and truly magical.

The setting is simply stunning, with beautiful views all around, cows and sheep in the surrounding fields, and the lake just a stone’s throw away. There are some lovely adventure walks right on the doorstep, making it the perfect place to explore and enjoy the great outdoors.

It’s also a fantastic base for visiting nearby tourist spots, with easy access to so many beautiful walks and fells. Whether you want a relaxing break or an adventure-filled holiday, there is something for everyone.

But the absolute highlight for our children, aged 6, 9 and 13, was getting to be little chicken farmers! They loved collecting fresh eggs from the orchard for breakfast, feeding the ducks and spending time with the rabbits. It made the stay feel so much more special and created memories they’ll talk about for a very long time.

Our host was absolutely wonderful with the children — so welcoming, kind and patient. The kids loved helping to put the chickens, ducks and rabbits away, and she always encouraged them and guided them in the best way. It was lovely to see them learning, helping and getting involved with the animals.

And, last but certainly not least, we were lucky enough to meet a brand-new calf! The children were thrilled and, of course, had the very important job of naming him… David! 🐄😂

Lake Farm Caravan is more than just somewhere to stay — it’s an experience. Beautiful surroundings, wonderful animals, fantastic walks and a host who makes you feel completely at home.

We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend Lake Farm Caravan to anyone looking for a peaceful, family-friendly and truly magical escape in the Lake District. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️🏡🐄🐑🐔🥚
