Oh my goodness! Everyone is a champion in gardening!

The awards ceremony was a celebration of the amazing work and love so many people, community groups, train stations and schools put into making Cumbria beautiful. Many people spoke of the importance of gardening for community wellbeing, strengthening connections and connecting real joy in our green spaces.

It was a real honour to be there, and to connect the Lake District National Park Trophy once again!!

Thank you all our guests who have encouraged me in my quest to remain true to my wild garden approach that embraces all our visitors. And thank you to Cumbria National Garden Scheme Shelagh Todd Emma Cowan and Louise Stoddart for sharing the gardening joy!

Have you ever wondered what your BnB host does as well as running a BnB?!

Many of our guests know about my life as a Social Psychologist! It’s come in useful over the years navigating the conversations over breakfast, sometimes while UK and world news is breaking about intercultural conflict and movements for social change. These issues affect our guests as all of us but generally a holiday is a space to escape difficult political debates. It’s still a space where these issues matter as we ensure visitors from all backgrounds are welcomed and have a fabulous holiday in the lakes.

It was really brilliant to be back at the with my former class mates and former students. They are all incredible women, doing difficult and crucial social research and I was incredibly proud to sit alongside them once again.

We were at the amazing NCVO venue.
