We are a modern Bed and Breakfast based in st John's in the Vale, by Thirlmere, just a short drive away from Keswick. We are very lucky to have a variety of lovely walks starting right from our doorstep, including a path up Helvellyn, path to Castlerigg Stone Circle and Thirlmere Reservoir. We are also based in close proximity to the Coast to Coast cycle path, as well as great rock climbing spots, such as Castle Rock (trad climbing) or Bramcrag Quarry (sport climbing).

We think St. John’s in the Vale is the perfect place to call in for coffee and cake on your walk or bike ride 🥾 🚴

This week we are thinking back to summer explorations... and the striking lake of Ullswater is just a short half an hour drive from us, and one of our favourites. Did you know it's the second largest lake in the Lake District? Plus, it previously formed the border between the historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland.
