We can't believe it has been just over two months since The Secret Table at Underscar, The Northern Lakes won 'New Business of the Year' in Cumbria Food Awards 2026! 💚

Just over a year ago we launched The Secret Table with a simple idea, to showcase the very best chefs and incredible local ingredients that the Lake District has to offer. What it has grown into has truly been amazing, sold-out events, unforgettable evenings, and something genuinely magical at our home in the Bistro at Underscar.🤩

It was also amazing to share the evening with all the other finalists and winners - it really highlighted the incredible community spirit across Cumbria! We couldn’t wait to share these photos with you all. ✨

The wonderful The Cook in the North (Shaun Nixon) will be joining us for his first Secret Table this May. is an independent travelling private chef who cooks for families, groups of friends and couples celebrating special occasions in homes and holiday cottages across the North of England. 🏠👨‍🍳

Rooted in his grandma's kitchen and the traditional flavour combinations of British, Irish and European family cooking, Shaun has been inspired by the likes of Nigel Slater, Darina Allen and the farm-fresh Riverford organic veg boxes he's been using since university in 2002 (when his would be the student house everyone would pile round to for home cooked dinners). His food style is known to be high quality, unpretentious, fresh, hearty and most importantly delicious - using only the most seasonal and local ingredients! 🤩

The wonderful Phil Corrie will be joining us for his first Secret Table this June. Head Chef and now Business Partner at 1863 in Pooley Bridge, his simplistic, largely local and often foraged cooking style has established the restaurant with its incredible award-winning reputation! It now holds three AA Rosettes and has won both the Cumbria Tourism 'Taste' Award and a Cumbria Life Readers’ Award. 🏆

Phil has quickly risen through the ranks throughout his career, learning all his cooking basics from his Nanna while helping in the family kitchen - attributing to his great success within the industry! 🍽️

Featuring Ullswater Honey Glazed Milk Bread, Yorkshire Rhubarb and Cumbrian Lamb within his summer menu, this is not to be missed! 🤩
