Coming soon Clare’s first novel. Over the course of the last 18+ months, Clare has been beavering away writing a book in her spare time.
She started doing a thousand word blog every month for our website, and found she really enjoyed doing this and came up with idea for a book based on history and people connected with the Keswick area. She has managed about 86,000 words so far and is now getting close to completing the final draft to send to publishers. We have a very kind guest who is an author and he also has a friend who is a historian. She has sent a draft to him and he fowarded to his friend the historian. Today we got some very positive feedback on both the book and historical accuracy. So here is hoping she can get the book fully edited and find a publisher. If there are any of our friends who have also had any writing published (either by a publisher or self published), any tips advice would gratefully appreciated.
Inspired by local history and legend - The Jewel of Derwentwater - a tale of murder, intrigue, war and betrayal, set amongst the stunning scenery of the Lake District.
Tormented by the disappearances of her brother and best friend, guesthouse owner Sam is left reeling when a knife is held to her throat, posing a host of questions. But when her attacker vanishes before her eyes, one is answered - she can travel through time - through an ancient oak. Compelled to travel back to find them, Sam becomes embroiled in a three hundred year old mystery, when she and a fellow traveller find a body buried on an island on Derwentwater. Local legend points to the body being that of Anna, Countess of Derwentwater… until it can’t possibly be.
