The Castlerigg Stone Circle just outside Keswick - wow! 🤩 some guests went yesterday with the fab weather and were kind enough to let me have the photos.

A ring of 38 stones - created about 4,500 years ago. Perhaps linked to the winter and summer solstices? Encouraging annual and bi-annual gatherings of local communities? Who knows? All I know is that it is magical and truly charming.

Looking down the valley, you have Blencathra over your left shoulder, back end of Skiddaw on the other shoulder. Clough Head to the left, down to Helvellyn. Catbells in the distance. And then Causey Pike and Grisedale to the right across the valley. This raised plateau is just magical.

Some folks have said I oversell it but I just find it mesmerising. And was lucky enough to take my mum there for sunrise on the Summer Solstice as well.

And if you’re really lucky you might catch ’s there as well for some homemade ice cream 😋

One of things that I love about Maple Bank is that there is so much choice for our guests of where to eat in the evenings, and all within walking distance from Maple Bank Country Guest House

Fellside Bistro Braithwaite is a really, really lovely addition. Cafe during the day, pizza and tapas in the evenings, with a great range of cocktails and of course, perfect cappuccinos to end off the evening. I had a cracking meal the other night. Very happy to recommend to my guests and definitely will be going back. And dog-friendly.

Just had to post again after my fabulous walk on the beach at Mawbray today. So lovely to be able to let the dogs run loose and have some freedom and good exercise.

And of course, we had to stop off for a coffee and sausage roll Seaglass Coffee & Taproom Allonby on my home for a cheeky wee snack - for me and the dogs 🤭 Such a fab tearoom and great coffee - yuuuumm 😋
