Red squirrels out in force at Manesty this week! Credit for photo 1 to our guests, Tony and Claire, who were staying in Cocklety How Byre. The rest were taken by us in our woodland today. It seemed there was a bit of a fight going on, the two squirrels chased around after each other for ages.

If you wish this had been your early morning walk we have availability from Friday for a weekend, or from Saturday for a week. Get in touch, it's our first availability since re-opening! It has been a funny old May weatherwise so far and today we couldn't resist an early morning quick trip up Catbells to visit the snow. We were well rewarded! A little bit of snow under foot and wonderful clear views all round. The quieter southern path starts next to Manesty and you can be at the top of this famous fell in less than a hour, straight out of the door.

Just a quick update on today's announcement: the re-opening of self-catering accommodation will fall into step two of the 'roadmap'. This will happen no earlier than 12th April. Therefore we are now taking bookings for holidays from 12th April onwards, and if we do not re-open in time holidays can be moved to an alternative date within 52 weeks. And here's a lovely blue sky delight from the fields to the south west of Derwentwater, taken just over a week or so ago. Skiddaw and Blencathra in the distance with their winter hats! Last week's rain washed the snow off and we are today enjoying a rather warm and sunny day.

Happy New Year everyone! We’re ending 2020 on a high weather wise, with lovely sunny and crisp weather and a touch of snow this evening. Slightly less of a high otherwise as Cumbria is now in Tier 4 and we are therefore closed, but we are looking onwards and upwards for 2021. We hope to see you all once we are back up and running and wish you all the best for 2021.

We had a fiery sunset and now are sitting round our outdoor fire on a moonlit and stunningly clear and cold Christmas Eve evening. We know lots of people are not having the Christmas they might have planned, but we hope everyone has a good day wherever they are. Merry Christmas from all of us at Manesty.
