The recent warm weather means you might be ready to hit the beach, just like guide dog in training, Zukie! 🏖️

The beach can make an ideal space for your dog to run, play and make new friends but in warmer weather remember to:

🐾 Visit the beach with your dog in the cool of the morning or the evening
💧 Always ensure your dog has access to fresh water
🌊 We recommend that you don’t allow your dog to drink or swallow any water from the sea

Not something we want to share, but really what is wrong with people? No wild camping and NO disposable/firepit Barbeques in the Lake District. It has been so bad recently, that the police are treating these barbeque fires as arson !

Police are warning that they will consider opening criminal arson investigations if people abandon BBQs in the Lake District.

Today we're shining a light on one of our amazing guide dog mums - Tia.

Labrador Tia recently had a litter of four pups but also took on four Golden Retriever puppies from fellow guide dog mum Happy, who unfortunately became ill. The pups thrived in their new setting, enjoying keeping warm under a heat lamp with their foster mum.

We're also "happy" to report that Happy is fully recovered and doing well 🐶

⚠️There is a significant risk of wildfire at the moment in the . ⚠️There’s been virtually no rain for weeks, the lake levels are very low, and the ground is tinder dry. Please don’t light any fires or barbeques and be very careful about the disposal of ci******es. 🔥

Our record-breaking German Shepherd cross Golden Retriever litter of 16 are now 18 months old, but where are they now?

Today is all about Nash, who’s journey has taken a different path...

Our dogs are bred and trained to work as guide dogs, and we’re delighted that the large majority of them qualify. However, some of our dogs are not made for work but would make great pets and Nash is one of those dogs 🐶

Nash is funny, loveable, and looking for a calm, confident handler that can understand his silly side in a home with no other pets or children under 12.

Nash is very affectionate but can get excited easily which can lead to jumping up and mouthing. His over-excitability can also cause rough playing with other dogs, so we recommend that he has his fun off-lead times in private and secure areas. Although, he does love calmly greeting other dogs when he’s on lead and has a couple of doggy friends that he mixes with weekly.

He also has a strong chase instinct so cannot live with cats or be let off lead near roads. He loves to play fetch and have lots of sniffy walks. He is a great traveller and copes well when left home alone.

If you’re interested in Nash, please email [email protected] with a summary of your current circumstances and lifestyle.
