‼️ SITE CLOSED ‼️

Unfortunately we have been left with no other option than to close the campsite, apologies for any inconvenience.

Sadly, locals in the village have had a vendetta against the site this year and while we tried to hold our head high and carry on, our warden was threatened to be stabbed by a member of pub staff which was the final straw so we closed the gates on Sunday evening. A neighbouring site also seems to have blasted us on social media for closing but the fact is he sent a lot of his undesirables to our site which didn’t help either situation.

Please note that other sites in the valley require bookings so please get in touch first before heading to Borrowdale. We thank you all for your custome and friendship over the years.

Unfortunately it looks like we have a vandal that has taken a dislike to the campsite and us. Despite having very few incidents over the last 18 years, there have been a few goings on and bad reviews lately that are quite suspicious and although Farmer Nick has gathered a few fans over the years it seems like he now has a super fan, although it’s becoming slightly obsessive 😂

So if you see any dodgy characters acting shady, please take a photo or video and private message us.

🚐 The track is narrow and bumpy so take your time but we get plenty lwb vans on. We do maintain it but Lake District rain washes it away

🚗 Yes you can sleep in your car, the only vehicles we discourage are motorhomes because of the track

Sorry for lack of communication lately guys, life has been a bit hectic! We are closed for the winter as usual but will reopen in March/April 🏕️

For the avoidance of doubt, access to the campsite is via the top track only (marked in blue) and NOT through the gate which clearly states no vehicle access.

This track is, in fact, a council road which we try to maintain but unfortunately the rainy Lake District weather means our improvements are often washed away.

Yes it is narrow and yes it is bumpy, but it is perfectly doable if you take your time. We get plenty lowered cars, long-wheel-based vans and even the odd brave motor home driver, which proves it can be done.

Nick even brought the digger out this morning so it’s looking better than ever 👌🏼
