A proud moment for Lake District Hotels.

With six of our hotels awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award this year, we’re incredibly proud to see so many of our teams recognised among the top 10% of hotels worldwide.

As a family-owned hotel group, with so many brilliant people and families working across our hotels in the Lake District, this recognition means a lot to us.

It reflects the hard work and hospitality our teams put in every day, and we’re very grateful to every guest who has stayed with us, left a review and supported us.

This year’s Travellers' Choice hotels are:
Inn on the Lake
Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa
Borrowdale Hotel
Skiddaw Hotel
Inn on the Square
Patterdale Hotel

Some hotels have a story behind them — The Borrowdale Hotel has 160 years of them.

Welcoming guests since 1866, The Borrowdale Hotel was one of the first coaching inns built in the Borrowdale Valley and still holds on to many of the details that make it so special today.

From the original bells opposite reception to old adverts, invoices and photographs from throughout its history, there are little reminders of the past all around the hotel. Even the gardens have their own story, with the Cherry and Magnolia trees planted when the hotel was first created still growing today!

The hotel has passed through the hands of several families, each leaving their own mark along the way. Then, in 2008, it became part of the Lake District Hotels family when Kit and Charles Graves bought the hotel.

Since then, the family has continued to invest in and renovate The Borrowdale Hotel, while being careful to hold on to the original character and charm that makes it so special.

For anyone looking for a true, classic Lake District stay — full of history, character and the peacefulness of Borrowdale — this is exactly that kind of place.

Have you stayed at The Borrowdale Hotel before? We’d love to hear your memories of Borrowdale Hotel
