The Patch, Snettisham Beach This page is about our holiday home, The Patch at Snettisham Beach on the wild west coast of Norfolk

HOLIDAY COTTAGE TO LET at Snettisham Beach near Kings Lynn, on the
NORTH NORFOLK COAST
Created around a Victorian railway carriage and recently enlarged and renovated to a high standard, the Patch is an informal, spacious, non-smoking holiday home on the edge of The Wash. It overlooks an artificial lake, and is a few minutes walk from a quiet beach. Well away from traffic and street lights, it’

s set in its own large private garden with off road parking for two or three cars. There’s a barbecue, garden furniture, and even several bikes. The Patch has four bedrooms - two downstairs in the carriage, as is the shower room/loo. It sleeps 7-8, with room for a travel cot or two – but is still cosy enough for just a couple or a small family. A great place for children, with plenty of space to run around and play. Available all year round, it has a big woodburner, and electric heaters in all other rooms. Bed linen and towels can be supplied on request for a small extra fee. There are many attractions and places of interest in the near vicinity, including the renowned RSPB Snettisham bird reserve, the Royal Family’s own holiday home at Sandringham, the Norfolk Lavender farm, atmospheric Castle Rising, historic Kings Lynn, and the cheerful Victorian holiday town of Hunstanton. Love this!

My girlfriend was away for work, I had a few days off, I didn't have any video games to keep me entertained, movies to watch, books to read or bananas to eat. I always thought her decorative wooden logs needed something more, so bought a pack of googly eyes and black and white stickers and surprised her when she got home.

Surprisingly, we don't yet have a booking for the Easter holidays at . So there's an opportunity for some lucky people! (The duck family video is from last spring. There will be more ducklings this year, without a doubt!)

Surprisingly, we don't yet have a booking for Easter at The Patch - so here's a great opportunity for someone! The video is one of last spring's duck families in the garden.

About time I paid more attention to this long-neglected page! We've been running The Patch as a successful holiday home for some 14 years now.

I was lucky enough to catch a small murmuration on the beach last Sunday. It was SO cold down there that day - the beach frozen, with the mudflats and tideline covered in frozen foam, but the walkways clear. The wind hissing through the dry grass and bushes - we were glad of all the many layers we had on!

Snettisham village has some very attractive walks - including which takes in the old mill, built in 1800, and now in private ownership. The plaque on the wall says it was 'built in times of scarcety by private subscription'. It's well worth seeking out and takes a lovely route along footpaths.

The latest batch of comments from our guest book. Delighted that more and more are returning - sometimes twice a year. It gives me a little warm feeling to know other people love as much as Tim and I do!

Magnificent crop of blackberries in the Patch garden - much to the delight of our current guests! Lots in the hedges and bushes round about as well, of course. And there's a wild apple tree along the path along the second lake, on the inner side. I wasn't expecting much of a crop this year after the long dry spell, but although the berries are small, they're very sweet.
Anyone fancy an out of season break in the wilds of North West Norfolk? Availability from October onwards - including Christmas/New Year!
