Welcome to the FB page for The Nethergate. Our holiday home is a period conversion on two levels, dating from around 1750. As a listed building, it’s quirky and full of unusual character features (including windows in strange places with very deep sills). On the first level we have a spacious living room, well stocked with books, DVDs and toys. A separate dining room (high-chair availabl

e) and a modern well-equipped kitchen. There is also a family bathroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the first is a double and the second has a zip link twin/King with a third click clack fold-down bed. Between the two there is a shower-room with WC. We thoroughly welcome dogs free of charge - though we ask that owners don’t leave their furry friends behind for long periods when heading out. Of course, we’re also child/baby-friendly (same rules apply :) ) and can supply a cot, high-chair, stair-gate on request. The Nethergate has broadband/wifi, full modern central heating and hopefully everything you need for a cosy holiday. We are ideally located for a holiday exploring Fife and Central Scotland; searching out Outlander filming locations; playing golf or just lazing by the coast. We have heard that we are still a secret - some people still don't know about Buttercup Cafe, where we are or what our opening hours are!

So here goes ...
Go back in time listening to music by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Doris Day in our little vintage style cafe on the High Street (next to JCM Beauty Studio LTD ) in the lovely town of Kinghorn

We serve freshly made eat in or takeaway sandwiches, platters, cakes and scones with many items from our local suppliers.

We have hot or iced barista style Myrtle Coffee, hot or iced ceremonial matchas and a selection of tea served in tea pots and china tea cups and saucers

Our opening times are:
Wednesday and Thursday 10am 'til 3pm
Friday 10am 'til 5pm
Saturday 10am 'til 3pm

🌒☀️ Solar Eclipse in Fife – Tonight! ☀️🌒

Just a heads-up for everyone in — we’ll be able to see a partial solar eclipse tonight, Wednesday 12th August!

🕕 Starts around 6:05pm
🌑 Maximum around 7:05pm
🌘 Ends around 8:00pm

At maximum, around 90% of the %Sun will be covered, so it should be quite a spectacular sight if the skies are clear! 🌤️

The Sun will be low in the western/southwestern sky, so try to find somewhere with a clear view in that direction.

⚠️ Please remember to use proper / glasses and never look directly at the Sun without suitable eye protection.
