How stunning is this view?! This is the Aveton Gifford Tidal Road which connects the village to Bigbury-on-sea, which has a fabulous beach and access to Burgh Island.

🛟 Running along the River Avon estuary, the road completely submerges during high tide making it impassable.

🪶 But if you time it right you'll have a glorious drive along the mud flats; home to millions of microscopic invertebrates and worms which are loved by a vast array of wintering waders, wildfowl, kingfishers, egrets, and the occasional European otter.

📍Aveton Gifford is a 20-minute drive from The Granary - and don't worry - the tidal road isn't the only way to get to Bigbury! If it's high tide, continue on the A379 through Aveton Gifford and before you get to Modbury, turn left onto the B3392 to Bigbury-on-sea.

It's hard not to fall in love with dreamy Dartmouth!

🚂 This is the stunning view across the River Dart to the charming village of Kingswear where steam trains pootle along the water's edge before slowing to a stop at the station.

⚓ Dartmouth itself is a beautiful towns full of handsome houses, historic maritime heritage, tearooms, restaurants, independent shops and much more.

📍It's the perfect day trip from The Granary and takes about 30 minutes in the car. We thoroughly recommend a boat trip along the river to Agatha Christie's stunning holiday home, Greenway.

I wasn't the only one drinking in the views of Frogmore Creek today..this stunning swallow was also taking a breather in this beautiful spot!
This was taken from which is a short, tranquil walk from The Granary along the water's edge.
We popped in to get some steaks for tonight's BBQ and also came away with a selection of Devon rum!
