A September weekend away with Rebecca Minty taking the train and walking all day from 2 Court Cottages is becoming an annual occurrence. The 16km took us to Mount Folly Farm and its novel vending machines adjacent to its picturesque camp site. Extremely well stocked and open 24 hours a day we had a delicious chocolate milkshake made with organic milk from its farm. But there’s more - organic minced beef, sausages South Devon Chilli Farm chocolate, coffee beans, etc. Worth keeping in mind when nearby shops are closed!

No rest for the wicked! A recent visit to the cottage involved a mid-season refresh and a little bit of down time. We steam cleaned the sofa and cut back geraniums, passiflora, lavender and hollyhocks that my mother planted and each year grow taller than I am. We still haven’t managed to use our kayak but we did visit the village pool and picked blackberries on walks in the surrounding countryside. We left the place ready for our next guests.

A rainy Saturday in June is the perfect day to visit Ashburton says Easy to reach from It’s up on the edge of Dartmoor and I think it hasn’t received the countrywide recognition it deserves.
It has fab restaurants, delis, interesting independent antique and craft shops, an amazing bakery and a full-on offering of cakes. Yum! Here’s a few. for great cards and prints @oddsandsudsashburton artisansartisans .ashburton
