Through the keyhole: Fledgling Barn & The Nest 🔑
We’re certainly not wishing summer away, especially with South Devon still firmly in a heatwave, but there’s something about mid-August that brings the first, very quiet thoughts of the season ahead…
Cooler evenings. Countryside walks without quite so much sun cream. The first excuse to light the log burner. A good book, a blanket and absolutely no need to be anywhere else.
Set within a peaceful five-acre retreat near Chillington, Fledgling Barn & The Nest are two rather lovely places to have bookmarked when those days arrive.
🌿 Fledgling Barn
Beautifully restored with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and warm natural textures, Fledgling Barn sleeps five and has all the ingredients for an autumn escape. There’s a cosy window seat overlooking the countryside, a wood burner at the heart of the living space and even a telescope on the mezzanine for clear, starry nights. Outside, wildflower meadows, woodland paths and five acres of shared grounds offer plenty of room for a morning wander before retreating back indoors as the evening draws in.
✨ The Nest
Just next door, but with its own private space and terrace, The Nest is a hideaway for two. Days can start slowly over coffee before heading for the coast, while evenings are made for curling up inside or sinking into the private hot tub beneath the stars.
Together, they offer the best of both worlds: separate, beautifully designed spaces within the same countryside setting, making them a lovely option for couples, friends or family wanting to escape together while still having a little space of their own. And with Torcross Beach less than ten minutes away and Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth all within easy reach, the coast certainly doesn’t stop being tempting when summer ends.
