Paul and his wife came for a recce last September just the two of them. They returned this August, booking the house and Annex exclusively for their family’s summer holiday.

They brought their children, grandchildren, Paul’s mother and two boats. Together they certainly made the most of the water and the weather!

“A perfectly equipped home in a relaxing setting. Suzy has thought of every detail at this spectacular B&B. Everything has been provided with care and thought on how to make your stay truly special. The view is incredible and provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy a morning coffee or a sundowner. It was a wonderfully relaxing holiday where the family got to enjoy games in the garden and loved getting on the paddle boards.“

I am constantly making upgrades and tweaks around Seaflowers to provide the best possible guest experience.

I do a lot by myself but I often rope someone more talented in to help. I am extremely fortunate that my mum Pat Greenwood is a dab hand with a sewing machine!

She recently reupholstered the dressing table stools in The Seal, The Heron and The Crab bedrooms - and look what a fabulous job she did.

Thank you mum. I don’t say it enough but I really appreciate all the small (and big) things you do to help keep me afloat. 🩵

The Annex at Seaflowers is available for medium-term lets this winter while I am away travelling.

The Seaflowers dining room’s large table is ideal for big groups to sit together comfortably. It was custom made by Nailed it industrial carpentry to perfectly fit the space and make sure 14 adults can sit together.

Sometimes though, we need a little support. Perhaps a grandparent prefers an arm chair.

There two were actually my grandparents’, from the original Seaflowers bungalow that was their home. My dad helped me salvage and restore them from their set of six. I love how they bring character to the modern aesthetic of the space.

I love returning guests. For Seaflowers to be chosen not once but twice for your family holidays means so much.

This year three of the peak summer weeks have been from guests who’ve stayed before - including Jane and her family, who shared this wonderful review:

“We absolutely love this house and the boathouse is amazing.

Everything in the house is in excellent working order. Lots of extras such as towels specifically for the hot tub, robes for children and plastic wine glasses for outside.

Spacious bright comfortable living space. Views of the creek from most rooms and access to garden through sliding glass doors. Fantastic views from 1st floor room.

Large garden is great for games. Kayak and paddle boards great fun. Life jackets for every size.

Suzy, the owner, is very responsive and couldn’t be more helpful.”

Hannah from Hannah Thomas | Herbs & Wild will curate a seasonal menu, celebrating Devon’s finest ingredients, especially for your group. She’ll serve each course and even clear away afterwards.

Hannah brings a wealth of experience from acclaimed kitchens such as The Ethicurean and Glebe House to Seaflowers. Trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, she’s passionate about seasonal, sustainable cooking and known for her beautifully curated supper clubs and retreats.

Here’s a taste of what’s on Hannah’s autumn menu right now to whet your appetite: Smoker trout, yoghurt and dill on rye. Sourdough rosemary focaccia with nasturtium butter. Cod, mussels, cider and wild mushroom velouté. Duck two ways with charred beetroot and rosehip jelly. Quince and chestnut tart with clotted cream to finish… is your mouth watering yet?!

Hannah will tailor her menus to suit dietary requirements or preferences to ensure they work for your full group. So all you need to do is book and then relax, knowing you’re in for an unforgettable feast.

Gwyneth Poultry - a White Columbian Brahma a “king of chickens” who’s very grand indeed, named by my BFF Faith Welch

Hermonie - a Vorwerk, a rare breed named by my niece Rosie who came with me today to collect the newbies

Taco - a Silver Laced Wyandotte, named by my niece Katie and who already laid an egg en route home!

Clawdia - a Devon Bronze, named my by pun pal Rachael Eizlini who will lay dark chocolate brown eggs

Donna - a Light Sussex, after the West Wing’s very own

Shirley - a Speckled Maran, after rock legend Shirley Manson♌

Welsey - a Silver Sussex, after my Off Campus obsession

Chickera - an inquisitive Silver Duckwing Leghorn named by my friend Tatty Pettigrew

Topanga - an Exchequer Leghorn, a sassy lady with a habit of jumping up on the gate and getting stuck outside the coop

The Golden Girls - two Golden Buffs, my oldest who are still reliable layers of delicious eggs

Huge thanks to Taylormade Poultry who were once again eggseptional in their chicken knowledge and help.

Cluckingham Palace is now at capacity with 20 fabulous chickens. Let’s hope the gals all settle in well together!!
