People often ask us where the name Sugar Park comes from.

The answer is quite simple.

Long before it became a campsite, this field was known locally as Sugar Park, and the name has stayed with it ever since.🗺️

The land has been part of Cath’s family, the Rogers family, for around 50 years, spanning at least three generations of farming life here in the South Hams.

Today, people come here to camp, walk the coastal path, star gaze, switch off enjoy the beaches and take in the views across Start Bay.

But at its heart, Sugar Park remains a back-to-basics family-owned campsite with deep roots in this special corner of Devon.

Set within the South Hams National Landscape (formerly known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), we love sharing it with visitors and giving people the chance to enjoy this special part of the South Hams for themselves.

Have you ever wondered where the name came from? Now you know! 🙏

Where are you watching tonight’s solar eclipse from? 🌞🌑

South Devon is one of the best places in the UK to see it, with around 95% of the Sun expected to be covered at its peak.

📍 We’re wondering if Prawle Point, the most southerly point in Devon, might be a rather good place to view it! 👀

It’s the closest we’ll get to a total solar eclipse here for a very long time, with the next one not this close not until 2081. 😲

We’ve noticed it’s a little quieter than normal at the moment at the campsite and we’re curious to know why. 🤔

Has it been too hot to camp? Are you waiting for cooler nights, making the most of days out closer to home while the weather is warm, or have you assumed everywhere will already be fully booked?

We’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

And if you fancy a last-minute escape to the coast, we have availability here at Sugar Park from Sunday 9 August. Please go to our website to book! ⛺️

🔥 TEMPORARY BBQ BAN [please read]

Given the present heatwave the area now faces an 'exceptional' risk of wildfires. It is for this reason, and with regret, that we are asking our guests not to use BBQs on the site until further notice.

Whilst we appreciate that this will be a disappointment for some, we hope you understand that this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of all guests and for the protection of the surrounding area.

As an alternative if guests do want to BBQ, we suggest you take it down to Beesands beach where, so long as you remain on the pebbles and away from the neighbouring verges, it should be safer.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this policy.

Thank you for your cooperation.

The best kind of luxury is space, sea air and nobody rushing you.

Just the sound of the sea at Beesands, open skies and that feeling of finally slowing down.

Sugar Park is just a short walk from the beach here at Beesands and , with views across Start Bay and plenty of room to breathe.

Sometimes the simplest holidays are the ones you remember most.

This is what you wake up to here. 😴 Scroll to see the view from the tent!⛺️

The light, the view across Start Bay, the quiet before the day properly begins.

Set in the South Hams National Landscape, our off-grid campsite is made for simple summer days, coastal walks and switching off properly.

You’d think we’ve been here long to get used to it this sunrise! But it still amazes us! 🌅

We have some availability left for June, so if you fancy a peaceful camping trip on the South Devon coast, grab a pitch while there’s one left.

Link in bio to book! 👏
