Hope Cove to South Milton Beach

A beautiful coastal walk with spectacular sea views, sandy beaches and plenty of opportunities for water sports along the way. South Milton Sands is particularly good for paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing, with the iconic Thurlestone Rock just offshore.

And if you’re walking through in August, look out for Rock Box — a popular summer pop-up serving burgers, pizzas and other casual food, including at South Milton Sands.

🌠 A very special night in the skies above Karrageen tomorrow! 🌒✨

Wednesday 12th August is shaping up to be a brilliant evening to be camping at Karrageen.

🌒 The Partial Solar Eclipse takes place tomorrow evening, with around 94% of the Sun covered here in Devon at its maximum at approximately 7:15pm.

🌠 Then, as darkness falls, it’s the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower — one of the highlights of the summer night sky. Away from the lights of the towns, Karrageen is a wonderful place to lie back and watch for shooting stars.

🇹🇭 And to make the evening even better, Thai Food Co will be back at Karrageen tomorrow evening, so grab some delicious Thai street food and settle in for quite a show overhead!

⛺ Our Top Field will be the place to be. With its elevated position, huge open skies and views out towards the sea, there aren’t many better spots to enjoy an evening like this. Bring a blanket or camping chair, find yourself a spot and enjoy the view.

Please remember: never look directly at the Sun during the eclipse. Proper certified solar-eclipse viewing glasses are essential.

🌘 A spectacular evening is coming to Karrageen…

On Wednesday 12th August, we’ll be treated to one of the most dramatic partial solar eclipses visible from the UK in decades. Even better, here in South Devon we’ll be one of the best places in England to experience it, with around 94–95% of the Sun covered by the Moon.

🕕 Approximate timings at Karrageen:
🌒 Eclipse begins: 6:18pm
🌑 Maximum eclipse: 7:15pm
🌔 Ends: 8:08pm

One of the best things about Karrageen is our uninterrupted west-facing sea views. As the Sun sinks towards the horizon over the sea, you’ll have a fantastic vantage point to watch this rare celestial event (weather permitting, of course!). 🌅

⚠️ Please remember: Never look directly at the Sun without certified solar eclipse glasses or suitable solar viewing equipment. Regular sunglasses are not safe.
