Nestling in the small, moorland village of Gillamoor, within the southern side of the North York Moors National Park, this charming end terrace holiday cottage is full of traditional features. The cottage still has the original Yorkshire stone kitchen floor, exposed stonework, original beams in the lounge and double bedroom and stripped pine doors throughout. The surrounding area provides an abund

ance of walking and cycling trails. The Valley of Farndale famous for its daffodil walk, and Hutton le Hole are close by. Market towns at Kirkbymoorside, 3 miles, and Helmsley, 8 miles, offer a choice of shops, inns and tearooms and visitors can travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. Ground floor Living room with solid oak floor, Multi-fuel burning stove (initial fuel included) four piece leather suite and Freeview flat screen TV with DVD, 4 steps to kitchen/dining area with stone floor, fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker and hob, microwave, washing machine DAB radio and stable door to lawned garden with sitting-out area and patio furniture and BBQ. Stairs to first floor with 1 double bedroom with solid pine double bed, hanging space, two small feature cupboards chest of drawers, bedside tables and alarm clock. Bathroom with shower over bath, sink and toilet. Stairs to second floor bedroom with twin beds bedside tables and large cupboard with hanging space. The property has oil central heating, wifi and electric included. Bed linen and all towels included. Travel cot and high chair free of charge on request. On road parking. Sorry we do not accept pets

Oh no! We have unexpected availability from today or tomorrow for a week!!
We are completely flexible so you can choose any 2 nights, take all 8 or anything in between!
Now is the perfect time to reconnect with nature, and some reasonably rare sights too, personally we’ve seen a nightjar, barn owl, red kite and curlew chicks within 5 minute drive.
There are also dippers, cuckoo and turtle doves within good reach.
The orchids are in full bloom at the moment too.
We really are a natures paradise only 1/2 hour from the outskirts of York.

Our availability is disappearing faster than the daffodils! ⏳
We have just a few short breaks available before July so if you want to see the blossom you better get your skates on. 🌸
The birds are gathering nesting material and before we know it they’ll be fledglings everywhere. 🐧
A local barn owl box already has 5 eggs! 🪺

Yey! Today is our birthday!! 🎈
15 years since we collected the keys to our unloved uninspiring little cottage. 4 years of poor marketing and boring interiors ment the last owners gave up on holiday letting.
15 years of evolving into something we are proud of, somewhere we’d like to stay (given the chance!)
15 years of blood sweat and tears, but many many happy guests, some have become friends, some were friends to begin with, very few we’d rather not see again 🤢
We’ve seen families grow returning year after year, we’ve lost customers too, and been to the funeral of one. 😞
It’s been a hard slog, a full time job and much more but we love it, you could say it’s in my bones, my grandma did bed and breakfast and I grew up next to a holiday cottage ‘helping’ the lady clean on a Saturday.
As soon as I could work it was in the local hotel, working in a few, that continued until I had children.
By the time our youngest was 13 we could realise our dream of buying our own cottage.
So here’s to the last 15 years and to many many more of showcasing our beautiful area to future guests, we can’t wait to meet you! 🥂
