Brownber Hall is set in open farmland, with panoramic views overlooking the Howgill Fells and the North Pennines. Located in the idyllic Lune Valley, a hidden gem away from the crowds, Brownber Hall is perfectly located for a relaxing and peaceful get-away. The Howgill Fells are an excellent spot both for those who want to get away and unwind, and for those who are more actively inclined – there i
s plenty of walking, mountain-biking, road cycling and (weather-permitting!) cross-country skiing all available from our doorstep and rock-climbing and mountaineering just a short drive away. Smardale’s National Nature Reserve, which features many rare birds, plants and animals, and is only a 15-minute drive from Brownber Hall. Smardale is also the site of the tallest viaduct in the UK at 180 feet. We are located just a hop, skip and a jump from the Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk and the Dales High Way and are very welcoming of long distance walkers. We are also well positioned for exploration of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Eden Valley or as a stop off on route to or from Scotland. Our rooms are all well appointed and our superior rooms have stunning views of the majestic Howgill Fells. Our beds are fitted with high quality 300 thread-count linen, and we have powerful hot showers to revive you after a long day out on the hills. All of our rooms have televisions, hairdryers and tea & coffee making facilities. A full English breakfast made with local Cumbrian produce is served daily. Brownber Hall stocks a selection of local beers, wine and soft drinks, which can be enjoyed in the lounge in front of a log fire, or out on the terrace. We have drying room for those rainy days and secure bike parking in the cellar. You can even borrow our puncture repair kit if needed! We are dog lovers and will try to accommodate your furry friends if we have space. Please contact us prior to booking to double check.
