We are a CAMpRA accredited aire licensed to accommodate up to FIVE motorhomes. The Scar Park Aire is located on Kirranrae Farm, Kirkcolm by the shores of Wig Bay, Loch Ryan with views across the loch. The aire is situated on the main runway of the decommissioned RAF Wig Bay Airfield constructed of reinforced concrete ideal for siting a motorhome and access to a water tap is available at the site e

ntrance. The Aire is located about half a kilometre from the main road, therefore providing a peaceful overnight stay. The scenic area of Wig Bay includes a two mile coastal loop walk round the Bay, The Scar and Loch Ryan as well as a longer route up through the woodland on the Corsewall Estate which can all be accessed from the site. The Scar Park is the name of the field the aire is located in. The field takes it’s name from The Scar, a bank of shingles that juts out into the loch at the end of Wig Bay and is most prominent at low tide. You will often see Oystercatchers along the Scar and occasionally in some of the fields by the shore as well. For directions to the site entrance use W3W: shall.overlaps.basic

♥️🛩 Competition Time! 🛩♥️

As we are celebrating our 5th birthday we thought we'd have a wee competition.

As many will know, the Scar Park Aire is located on part of the disused WWII airfield, RAF Wig Bay. We have created some RAF Wig Bay t-shirts which will be available to buy soon, but one of you could be the first to own one!

Modeled here by farmer Jack (who is a little camera shy) the front features a Supermarine Stranraer Flying Boat 🛩 landing on Loch Ryan and the back features an aerial view of the airfield with planes scattered across the site.

Happy 5th Birthday to Scar Park Aire! 🥳

Would you believe, five years ago today we opened our gates to our very first van! 😱 What started as part of a three van pilot scheme setup by Dumfries and Galloway Council has turned into quite a popular CAMpRA certified Aire. A stopover for up to five motorhomes and campervans.

We would like to thank all of the vans that have visited us in the past five years, especially those that keep coming back! 😃 Without you we wouldn't be doing this! Here's to the next five years! 🤞🏻🥳

As it is our 5th Birthday we will be running a small competition. This will be launched tomorrow. So keep a look out for that. 😃
