We always love receiving positive feedback from guests who enjoy their stay. It’s great to hear how well the properties work for guests but equally, how much they enjoy Kirkcudbright and the local area. It really is a hidden gem and one to visit!

Where will you Spring Fling this weekend?? Tomorrow (till Monday) sees the start of the Spring Fling Open Studios which returns for its biggest year to date, bringing together 111 artist studios across Dumfries & Galloway. Within the Kirkcudbright area (on the 🟣 route) there are 23 studios to explore – a route rich in variety, creative energy, and open doors.

Be sure to look in on good friend Liz Dagg (number 46), you may recognise some of her work in Union Street, and neighbour, across the road from High Street, (number 25).

For more information on routes and exhibitors please visit: www.spring-fling.co.uk and if you can’t make it this year, be sure to pop it in your diary for the same time next year.

🚴‍♂️ Best of luck to our guests and all competitors who are competing in The Gralloch race this weekend in Gatehouse of Fleet. Part of the UK’s UCI Gravel World Series it is a celebration of gravel riding, a test of determination, skill, and endurance set against the stunning backdrop of Galloway Forest Park 🚴‍♂️

Whether on two wheels or spectating, Gatehouse of Fleet (just a short 20 min drive from Kirkcudbright), will be buzzing with so much going on and if you can’t make it this year, be sure to put it in your diary for next. Entries for The Gralloch race open in November.

Barbour Coastal Retreats was a very proud sponsor of this fabulous bunch of U13 boys on their recent tour. The boys played their absolute socks off and had an epic tournament and of course a lot of fun along the way, as did we! Star Wars was the theme hence the dress up 🚀!!

Huge thanks to all at and for hosting such a great weekend and to the organisers and sponsors of the tour , , , , , and to Spencer and his team for having us!

Nestled in the vibrant ‘Artist Town’ of Kirkcudbright, this bricks-and-mortar Fake Food Store is the only one of its kind in the UK. Explore a world of lifelike food replicas, from shimmering heritage jellies to perfectly textured baked goods and delicious ice creams as featured in the Barbie movie!

I cannot recommend a visit here enough, the craftsmanship is absolutely mesmerising and offers you the chance to see, shop, and experience the artistry behind the creations up close. Keep an eye on their website too to book in for workshops to make your own fake food!

Weekend incoming…… 🗓️☕️🍷….. 👇

One of the most exciting additions to Kirkcudbright of late (they recently celebrated their 1st Birthday) is Millar’s Wine Bar, yes, a wine bar in Kirkcudbright! The first of its kind in the area and a must visit! Cute and quaint, much like Kirkcudbright, and with brilliant service too. Host and owner Iain is there to serve some delicious wines (select cider’s, beers & spirits if you prefer) and has some tasty charcuterie and cheese boards to accompany the drinks.

The fire will be on if it’s chilly, and the tables and chairs outside for some al fresco fun when it’s warm and dry - a place to enjoy, no matter the time of year.

Best to book in advance, although you may be lucky to get a walk in. I honestly can’t rave about this place enough! And if wine isn’t your thing, or you want to go at both ends of the day 😉, they open for coffee and delicious pastries in the morning now too – see their link for full opening hours.

Kicking off my posts by sharing the Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities plan for the coming months. There is lots going on so take a look and pop in your calendar’s.

One to get training for is the half marathon on the 23rd May, a stunning coastal route (walking and running routes), with the old incline to challenge 😉!

A few of my highlights over the summer include the Riding of the Marches .r.o.m (17th July), the regular Scottish Night’s, and Maggie’s Tours and of course the end of summer Tattoo on Saturday 29th August.

Make a weekend of it for the Arts and Crafts Trail from the 31st July – 3rd August.

Please see the link in bio re availability in both properties throughout the year and/or PM for more details.

Happy planning!

I’ve been a little quiet on the socials of late…. But spring is springing and there is SO much to shout about what is going on in Kirkcudbright and the surrounding area. I feel incredibly lucky to be apart of this wonderful little town, with so much to offer locals and guests. The town is blooming and buzzing!

Will get posting and sharing. If you see these, please do like and or comment, it makes a massive difference to know they are being seen and will prompt me to post more – but not over share 😉 .
