Just when we thought 2026 couldn't get any more exciting, we've received some absolutely incredible news!

We've been named FINALISTS in TWO categories at the Scottish Italian Awards 2026! 🇮🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏆 Scotland's Best Pizza

🏆 Scotland's Best Front of House Team

WOW! To think that our little wood-fired pizzeria, tucked away on the beautiful island of Sanday, is being recognised alongside some of the very best Italian restaurants across Scotland is just mind-blowing!

And we're especially delighted about the Front of House nomination. Our wonderful team are the heart and soul of 59° North, and seeing their hard work, warmth and genuine island hospitality recognised means the absolute world to us. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported us, eaten our pizzas, recommended us to friends or simply cheered us on. We genuinely couldn't do any of this without you.

Who'd have thought a little pizzeria on a tiny Orkney island could make so much noise?! 🥹

Whatever happens next, we're already incredibly proud of Team 59° North!

✈️ A little reminder of just how peaceful life on Sanday really is… 💙

One of the many things we love about living on Sanday is the incredible peace and quiet. No traffic noise, no busy roads and hardly ever a plane in the sky.

So when one does pass overhead, it’s something of a novelty!

This Lufthansa Boeing 787 Dreamliner has just flown over us, making its way from Frankfurt to Detroit, almost 35,000 feet above our little island. That’s almost Mount Everest height! 🌍

It’s quite something to think of all those people travelling across the Atlantic, completely unaware of the beautiful little island passing beneath them.

And down here? Life carries on at its own wonderfully unhurried pace.

No traffic lights. No queues. No stress. Just Sanday. ❤️

When we came up with the idea of opening 59° North for pizza on Christmas Day, we weren't quite sure how it would be received… but you've absolutely blown us away!

We're delighted to say that we now have just ONE table for two left! 🎅🍕

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who's booked, shared our post, commented or simply encouraged us to give something a little different a go this Christmas.

Living on a small island, having such a supportive community means the world to us. You're always willing to get behind our slightly unusual ideas, and we really do appreciate it! ❤️

🎄🍕 CHRISTMAS DAY AT 59° NORTH! 🍕🎄

Christmas dinner… but not quite as you know it! 🎅

This year, we're doing something a little different at 59° North, and we'd love you to join us!

Whether you're spending Christmas on your own, fancy a change from the traditional festivities, or simply want someone else to do the cooking (and washing up!), our doors will be open on Christmas Day. ❤️

We're bringing a little festive magic to Sanday with a giant, all-you-can-eat Christmas pizza buffet!

Think Christmas dinner pizza, Boxing Day curry pizza, Christmas cheeseboard pizza and even a sprout, feta and walnut creation! Alongside festive nibbles, delicious puddings, mince pies and plenty of Christmas cheer.

🎄 Christmas Day - Friday 25th December

🕐 1pm–3pm

🍕 £30 per person - eat as much as you like!

🥂 Welcome mocktails included, and you're welcome to bring your own alcohol.

There'll be no turkey to carve, no mountain of dishes to wash and absolutely no pressure to wear a Christmas jumper (although we thoroughly encourage it!).

Most importantly, we'd love to make Christmas Day a warm, welcoming occasion where everyone feels they belong.

Tables are limited, so booking is essential, message us to book a table.

🐾 A lovely little mention for 59° North! 📖❤️

We were absolutely delighted to welcome travel writer Lottie Gross to 59° North during her visit to Sanday and even more delighted to discover that she's included both our pizzeria and Motorhome Aire in her wonderful book, Dog-Friendly Weekends Scotland! 🐶

It's always special when someone takes the time to explore our little island and to see our family business recommended in a published travel guide really does mean the world to us.

Lottie's book is packed with fantastic ideas for exploring Scotland with your four-legged companions, from beautiful places to stay to great places to eat and adventures to enjoy together.
