Our small Loganair planes have been a big asset to all of of our island communities.

On this day 55 years ago: The world’s shortest commercial flight route started between two Orkney Islands, Westray and Papa Westray, north of the Scottish mainland. The Loganair flight covers a distance of only 1.7 miles (about the length of the main runway at Edinburgh Airport) and it can be completed in under one minute, on a nice day ☀️

Earlier this year local RSPB Scotland staff were delighted to spot a pair nesting at the organisation’s nature reserve in Hoy, and can confirm that they now have chicks.
