The Lion Hotel is a traditional village pub with comfortable rooms, set in the heart of the Mid Wales countryside.

Ray and Janet Thomas have been proud landlords here for over 30 years, welcoming guests and locals alike through the doors of this much-loved country inn. Over the years, The Lion has become more than just a pub, it’s a meeting place, a resting spot for walkers and cyclists, and motorbikes, and a home from home for visitors returning to the area.

You’ll find local ales, good honest home-cooked food, and a friendly atmosphere where conversation flows easily and nobody is a stranger for long. In the colder months, there’s nothing better than settling in by the fire; in summer, the surrounding hills and views over the river Ithon from the pub garden provides the perfect escape.

Our comfortable, characterful rooms provide a peaceful base for exploring the beauty of Mid Wales, whether you’re here for the walking, the cycling, family visits, or simply a quiet break away from it all.

We’re thrilled to announce that our Pick Your Own Sunflower Field will be blooming into action from:

📅 Wednesday 06 August 2025
🕛 12:00 (Midday) – 18:00
📍Ackhill Farm, Presteigne, LD8 2ED

Come wander through a sea of golden blooms, take some picture perfect snaps, have some summer holiday fun with family and friends whilst soaking up the sunshine and pick your perfect bunch!

Opening Hours for remainder of the week will be:

🌞 Thursday 07 & Friday 08 August
🕙 11.00 – 17.00

🌻 Saturday 09 August
🕙 10:00 – 15:00

❌ Please note: We’ll be closed to the public on Sunday 10 August for a private event.

✅ Back open wk/c 11 August, opening hours to be confirmed nearer the time!
