Rose Cottage Dutlas

Rose Cottage Dutlas We really love this place. Available for rent all year round from £250 per week.

It was our own holiday home for years, then we lived here for a year, and now we live a few miles up the valley we are delighted to invite others to share the magic.

Claire Miles February the 14th may be Valentine’s Day elsewhere, but here in Wales there is another date where we celebrate all things love and romance – Dydd Santes Dwynwen. The 25th of January is the feast day of St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. It is a special celebration that co...

Yet another stunning day today. It was -5C at 8am and the ground white and frosted. BUT the sun is out and the sky is blue. The countryside around here is sparkling! The sheep are not too impressed but some sheep nuts should sort that out. Loads of birds on the feeders and great walking weather

Its hog eat hog out there! ……..Hedgehog wars

Our hungry hedgehogs just can’t seem to come to an arrangement with each other. So John has rearranged the feeding station and now there will be plenty of room for all.
September through to the first hard frosts are important for feeding hedgehogs as there are still babies about. It is important that they reach a certain weight or they are unable to hibernate.

At last we have had a bit of rain and the river looks much better, flowing nicely. The kingfishers continue to flash up and down just above the water and the otter has visited too. The kites are also quite numerous in the valley. I see more kites than buzzards these days and there are... Read more ....

The sun continues to shine and there is an amazing amount of blossom. The hills and hedges are white with Hawthorn and this is the time to visit some of the many gardens here with rhododendrons, azaleas and the last bluebells still in shady woods. So a trip to Hergest Croft Garden was called for. A stroll through the wood listening to the gurgling stream followed by a tour of the garden and on then to the tea shop a wonderful afternoon particularly enjoyed by our four footed friend.
