Carnach Mor, West Affric last week: an area that has been fenced-off to keep deer out and allow trees to regenerate. Great to see native birch, rowans and Scots pines coming on so well, with woodland birds in full song there last week. Once the trees have become sufficiently robust the fence will be taken down and deer will have full access to and benefit from this woodland in the long-term. Thank you to Trees For Life for all their work on this scheme, with their volunteers working there recently.

Sunny weather in Kintail just now: there is an "extreme" wildfire risk across the area today and tomorrow with the landscape covered in dead grass and other vegetation at this time of year, and before fresh growth gets going. Take great care!

Some photos of the brilliant work the other half of the group did during our recent footpath repair week - over 100m re-surfaced in total over the week, lots of drainage ditches re-dug. Thanks again to all the volunteers 🙂 And to Johnny for use of some of his photos.

Some of Nan's photos from last week: the volunteers worked under Nan's direction, continuing with the excellent work of the NTS Mountain Path Team on the path descending to the footbridge at Dorusduain. Thanks to the path team who gathered a lot of the stones used. And massive thanks for the amazing work of all the volunteers 👏

The National Trust for Scotland maintains over 50km/31miles of paths and tracks at Kintail & West Affric: including the historic cross-country route over the Bealach an Sgairne that the volunteers worked hard on last week 👏
